Dr. Hernandez-Lopez is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Bioengineering and of Genetics at Stanford University, a member of Stanford Bio-X, and a Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator. Rogelio received his Ph.D. in Chemical Physics at Harvard University, where he worked in the Leschziner Lab on the mechanisms of the microtubule-based motors dynein and kinesin. During his postdoctoral research in the Lab of Wendell Lim at UCSF, Rogelio was a fellow of the Cancer Research Institute and UCMEXUS. His work focused on engineering novel T cell therapies for cancer treatment.
Rogelio Hernandez-Lopez is also a co-founder of Clubes de Ciencia Mexico and Science Clubs International, non-profit organizations that aim to expand access to high-quality STEM education and collaborative international networks.
Rogelio is a recipient of several awards including the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award at the Scientific Interface in 2021, he was named an Anderson Faculty Fellow from the Stanford School of Engineering, and a V Foundation scholar in 2022, and a Pew Biomedical Scholar, and a Baxter Faculty Scholar in 2024.
